Week 9
Monday we went to the Courtauld Gallery and saw some Manet's and even Van Gogh! After the gallery Kayla and I went to the one and only..Abbey Road. It is still a functioning road which means it is pretty difficult to get pictures. But we succeeded.
Tuesday Kayla and I went to Covent Garden which is a large market place with shops. There are even street performers. That night we all went to Lion King! It was so good! I love the music, puppets, and their voices were amazing.
Wednesday morning we left for the wee land of Scotland! On our way we stopped at Fountains Abbey; which is a monastery in ruins. It was cold, but really pretty. We got to Edinburgh Scotland when it was dark, so we quickly checked into our Hostel and found dinner at a pub. We were fortunate enough to get a decent Hostel..but that didn't stop it from being creepy..I was very grateful we only had two nights there!
Fountain's Abbey
Thursday we walked up the Royal Mile Road to Edinburgh castle. It was a very foggy day which set the perfect feel for a castle! After the castle Kayla and I went to Scotland National Gallery, then shopped! We even saw the diner that J.K. Rowling was inspired to write Harry Potter. For dinner a group of us went to Frankenstein's. It was a normal pub, but themed as Frankenstein. Scotland is known for their ghost tours, so of course we had to go! The ghost tour took us to the underground city and to the 'haunted' graveyard. It was pretty scary!
Ashlyn and I at the castle
Lovin' the Scots!
HP was born!
We love Frankie!
Friday morning a large group of us hiked up to Arthur's seat which is on top of a mountain in Edinburgh. It was quite a hike! I have never been in so much wind as I was when I was on top of that mountain!! I really think the only thing keeping me on the ground was my backpack. But it was the most gorgeous view of Scotland! In the afternoon we hoped back on the coach and drove toward Newcastle. On the way we stopped at another ruined monastery. We had dinner in China town at a buffet! Finally enough food. Luckily we had a hotel that night, and Kayla and I were able to room together..we had fun. :)
Blowing away!
We know that we are really talented.
Saturday we made the trek back to London, it is a long coach drive! On our way we stopped at Hadrian's wall. Each day got colder and colder, so it was incredibly cold and there was even snow! We were very grateful to get back to the center and get warm. :) Unfortunately I came home to a computer that wouldn't turn on! I had to wait until Monday to see what was wrong with it.
Hadrian's Wall behind me
Can you tell how cold we were?!
BUT. I did come home to some adorable letters from my sweet fiancé! Joel is way too good to me. :)
He is so cute!
Sunday was church and relaxing! Too bad I was so tired that I didn't update my blog..hence the delay!
It was a fun/long/cold week in Scotland! We love yer kilt!
